Japan's textile industry has undergone multiple tests after the earthquake

The business club reported on March 21 that the communication signal was interrupted, traffic was blocked, water was cut off, and power was leaked. The nuclear crisis leaked... The Great Japan Earthquake caused a great deal of safety to the Japanese economy and the lives of the Japanese people. At the same time, the textile and apparel industries in the relevant regions also suffered losses. The tsunami hit various retail stores, causing many shoppers and shop assistants to suffer casualties; many retail stores and fabric factories in Iwate Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture, Fukushima Prefecture, and Yamagata Prefecture. And the sewing factory was discontinued, and many clothing stores in Tokyo were forced to close. As Japan, an important distribution center for the Asian textile industry, the impact of the earthquake on its industry is affecting people.

Power shortage is most affected According to the latest report of Japan’s “Fisheek News”, the biggest impact of the earthquake on Japanese textile companies is the shortage of power supply.

Knitwear manufacturer Maruko and Fiber Industries's factory is located in Shirakawa, Fukushima Prefecture. The glass of the factory's factory was damaged, but fortunately it did not cause too much damage and the employees were all safe. However, because of the power transmission system, the equipment in the factory could not operate. If the post-earthquake infrastructure rebuilds slowly, it will affect the operation of the factory. The plant of the Aomori factory was just completed this year. The plant building is relatively firm, so the infrastructure is not damaged, but it is currently still in a state of production suspension due to power outages.

Matumaru is a manufacturer of knitted garments. Its high-rise factory located in Hashitatsucho, Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture has a relatively high topography. Therefore, the tsunami loss after the earthquake was not serious, and no injuries occurred to all employees. The equipment in the factory stopped during the earthquake, but it was intact. There were no casualties in the nearby factory staff in the center of Ishinomaki. However, some of the vehicles were washed away by the flood, and the warehouse part of the first floor was flooded, causing some economic losses. President Matsuo Ichiro said: “The telephone and network communications at the plant site are in very poor condition. The details of the losses cannot be assessed yet. However, the safety of all employees has been confirmed. The rest of the work must wait until the communication status is restored before making arrangements.”

At the time of the earthquake, Descente Garment Co., Ltd.'s factory in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture organized the employees to take refuge and did not cause any casualties. After the earthquake, factory production stagnated. Sendai Branch also collects information and confirms the safety status of counter sales personnel at its direct-operated stores and department stores in the Northeast.

Many shops were forced to close In addition to the impact on the production of textile companies, major commercial centers in Japan also closed stores after the earthquake. The head office in Akita City Center has 10 stores in the Tohoku region and Tokyo. Although the earthquake did not cause any loss, due to the blackout in Akita City, all the shops in the urban area were shut down. In Tokyo, the window glass was damaged.

Fujisaki Sendai Store closed its business immediately after the earthquake and went out of business on March 12. The Mitsukoshi Department Store in Sendai organized the clerk to guide the guests to evacuate immediately after the earthquake and closed on March 12.

There were no casualties at Mitsui Outlet Mall in Sendai Port. Four people were slightly injured at La La Garden, a shopping mall in Nagamachi, and the parking lot collapsed.

Uny is located in Sazubara East Branch in Ibaraki Prefecture, Iwasa Branch in Saitama Prefecture, and Ashikaga Branch in Tochigi Prefecture. The fire sprinkler system in Ashikaga branch started and some of the walls fell off. There were no casualties for the guests and shop assistants.

The head office of the Honeys brand in Iwate City, Fukushima Prefecture, was not much damaged. The company will begin to investigate and assess the damage of stores, systems and logistics in Northeast China.

A 6-year-old child died in an EAON department store in Rifu City, Miyagi Prefecture. A clerk was found dead in his shop in Soma, Fukushima Prefecture. Stores in the northeastern region are shut down due to power supply, and the electricity supply will resume after the restoration.

A disaster management center was set up at the next Asahi shop where Xebio headquarters was located to timely confirm the safety of guests and shop staff in each branch. The company has decided to stop all branches in the six counties in the Northeast region and provide evacuation information for employees in the relevant stores. In the absence of a signal on the cell phone, employees use Twitter network tools to help nearby residents pass on information on finding relatives.

The business district in Tokyo was affected by the earthquake and tsunami. Commercial facilities in Tokyo were closed. Isetan Tachikawa Store, Matsudo Store, and Fuchu Store stopped operations after the earthquake, and normal business operations on March 12, but shortened business hours. Mitsukoshi Department Store Chiba Store was still closed on March 12th. On March 15th, Spain's Inditex announced that it will temporarily shut down the establishment of 63 ZARA stores in Japan. The MANGO apparel company closed two of the seven stores in Tokyo.

Shinjuku Mylord took temporary suspension measures on March 12. Some of the stores at Maru Building, Ebisu, and Akihabara were closed on March 12. The commercial facilities such as Lalaport Fung Chau Shopping Center, Mitsui Outlets Tama Nan Otsuka Store, Kinshicho Arcakit have all ceased operations. Many commercial facilities are busy with overhauling equipment and confirming the safety of employees.

On the day of the earthquake, all rail transit in downtown Tokyo was shut down all day, causing some confusion for those who came home from work. EAON's Sea Side shop in Shinagawa and East Kanagawa store opened their stores for those who couldn’t return home by bus.

The Kobe Fashion Fair, scheduled to be held in Tokyo on March 12th, was cancelled on March 11 due to the inability to ensure the safety of personnel at the venue and consideration of possible traffic stress in the area. A-net's "Sunaokuwahara" 2011/2012 fashion show, which was originally scheduled for March 11, will also be postponed.
