From January 26 this year, importers or U.S. manufacturers must provide flame retardance for some products. Standard General Certificate of Conformity (GCCS), products include vinyl plastic film, carpets and mats, and non-children's clothing textiles. Failing to provide a certificate of compliance, or publishing a false certificate of compliance, may result in civil penalties of up to $100,000, and may even result in criminal penalties and property forfeiture.
